View Day 31 - Last Day Of 2012! 31/12/2012 09:58 in a larger map
This is my journey across South Africa on foot. A sublime expedition through one of the most beautiful countries on God’s earth. My attempt will be solo, unsupported, with but my boots, a tent and my trailer. I’m walking because I can. I’m walking because I have to. I’m walking because there are people who can’t, but I can.

Pledge challenges
South African Treasure Route
Loving the restday in Victoria West
Here we stopped for some breakfast venison pie & gingerbeer at the famous Mannetjies Roux antique shop. Posing is the all popular Anna who runs the shop (had her article in the Getaway) and the Legend Mannetjies himself!
Treasures indeed!

Accepting the pledge challenge
Donation Challenge on Steroids!
A friend of my dad's, Ian Nolte, has come forth with a radical donation commitment and challenge to others.
He pledges to donate to QASA R20 for every R1 that Barloworld stock price rises on the JSE from the 30th of Nov '12 to the day that I finish!
To date it has gone from R72.79 to R88.00!
This is an amazing pledge and a challenge to others to make similar pledges. Thanks a million Ian, we are truly grateful! :)
Any person or organization wishing to take up the challenge can either post his commitment directly on this blog or can e-mail his pledge to Gerhard Odendaal at gfo@iburst.co.za' who'll publish your pledge on the blog. Your pledge can also be based on anything else which you may prefer. Enjoy pledging! Have fun!Friday, 28 December 2012

Concentration Camp Visit
Last night we visited tannie Rina Wiid's farm Doornbult where an Anglo-Boer War concentration camp was situated. Very emotional all that happened there.
But Rina &Lemmer were so nice that they let us stay there for free. Another treasure brought to you by www.satreasureroute.com
Half Way to CT!
Today I will be crossing the halfway mark between Pretoria & Cape Town just after Strydenburg. I can't believe that we've come this far already.
The people that I've met, places that we've seen - what a journey thus far!
I do miss my people at home and my loveliness Nicole so far away.
But let's see where the next half will take us...
